Port Alberni: Construction starts for 35 unit housing project.

A building permit with a value of $9,580,850 has been issued to IWCD for the construction of a four-storey, 35 unit affordable housing project. Units will range from studio apartments to four-bedroom units. The site will also include a playground, outdoor gathering centre and cultural centre for teachings, activities, events and celebrations. The provincial government, through BC Housing, contributed $6.4 million toward the project. The City of Port Alberni provided the land, valued at $580,400 and the federal government contributed $150,000.

Courtenay: Over 110 new units now renting for three projects. 

Construction is wrapping up for 110 rental units in three different projects in Courtenay. Units are still available for rent at the new Palace Place on 5th Street and Duncan with occupancy July 1st, or earlier if available. One bedroom, 1 bath units are renting for $1750, while 2 bed, 2 bath units are renting for $2700. Glenhart Views on Ryan Road is now renting for the first building in this 247 unit, three apartment building complex. Rent starts from $1798 for a 625 sq.ft. one bedroom, one bath unit, $2198 for two bedroom, two baths, and $2598 for a 1031 sq.ft. 3 bed, 2 bath unit. Pets are permitted with restrictions on sizes and breeds. Finally, construction of England Oaks is wrapping up with 45 micro units available in June. These apartments will be 321 sq. ft., with an outside balcony or patio and washer and dryer. There will be 24 dedicated parking spots and 45 spots for bicycles. 9 corner units will rent for $1695 each, with the other units renting at $1595 each. Campbell River: Construction starts for 40 unit upscale apartment building.

A building permit with a value of $10 million has been issued for this 40 unit apartment project. The proposed development aims to provide upscale rental accommodation and includes a mix of 10 one bedroom and 30 two bedroom units within a five-storey building.
