Ucluelet: Design and Construction Management Services tender for the Lost Shoe Creek Water Treatment Plant

The District of Ucluelet is seeking the services of a qualified engineering firm to provide design and construction management services for the Lost Shoe Creek Water Treatment Plant. Elevated levels of manganese, iron, and turbidity render the current treatment methods inadequate to achieve potable water quality in compliance with the Guideline for Canadian Drinking Water Quality. The district’s original water treatment project included: Upgrading the Lost Shoe Creek Filtration Plant, Enhancing the Bay Street Filtration Plant; and Constructing a new water storage reservoir at estimated project cost of $20.745 million (2022 dollars). Due to escalating costs and rising interest rates, the new plan only includes design and construction of a new Lost Shoe Creek Treatment Plant.

Union Bay: Detailed Design tender for new Fire Hall.

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is seeking architectural firms for detailed design services for a new Union Bay Fire Hall. The existing fire hall no longer meets the needs of the department as it has limited parking access for staff, newer fire trucks don’t fit the bays and is generally too small. The new hall will be located on a different site, a rural lot just north of Washer Road, along 19A Island Highway. The Scope of Work includes Phase 1 – Detail Design, Phase 2 – Tendering Support, and Phase 3 Construction Contract Administration Services. The CVRD retained Current Environmental to complete a preliminary eagle nest survey and constraints assessment as well as Lewkowich to complete a geotechnical assessment. This tender closes March 28.

Campbell River: Services Design and Costing tender for unserviced Airport lots.

The Campbell River Airport has several lease lots available for private and commercial lease. The majority of these lots have been successfully developed, however the remaining large lots towards the Northwest remain undeveloped. In an effort to make these lots more accessible to development, the city has issued a request for proposal from engineering companies for the design and costing to service the lands. This project focuses on Lots 2, 26, 27, 28 and 29. Phase 2 with detailed design and tendering support and Phase 3 with contract administration services are pending funding approval. Phase 1 is expected to be completed by September 2024 to allow for budgeting for potential construction in the 2025 fiscal year. This tender closes April 4.
