Campbell River: Application being reviewed for 126 units in two multi-family building.

Campbell River staff are reviewing a Development Permit for a proposed residential development with 2 multi-family buildings each with 63 units. Seymour Pacific has applied for a Minor Development Permit Streamside Development Permit for the proposed residential development. Seymour Pacific Developments is seeking a Streamside Protection Permit for a parcel located at 2185 Willis Road. The property features multiple riparian habitats within and adjacent to the parcel, and the applicant will provide a set of preventative measures ensuring any development related activities will not harmfully alter any environmentally sensitive areas on or near the property. The multi-family zoned 4.802 acre property on the corner of Nicole and Willis Road was purchased for $1.41 million in June 2021.

Powell River: A new 40 to 50 unit apartment building is in the early design stages.

A new residential building is in the early design stages for a property on Alberta Street in Powell River. The applicant, Crowne Pacific, intends to develop market rental apartments. This property is already zoned RM-3 and this proposal is for 40 to 50 new units. Once the development permit and building permits are in place, construction is expected to begin in early 2023.

Comox Valley Regional District: 3 RFPs to be released in February including the Sewer Conveyance Project.

The Comox Valley Regional District is expecting to release three Requests for Proposals in February, including work on the new Sewer Conveyance Project, the Campbell River Landfill Closure, and the Comox Valley Landfill Expansion Cell 2 construction. The RFP for the Sewer Conveyance Project will be for the Design-Build Project, which excludes the town of Comox. The route through the Town of Comox will be a separate design-bid-build project. The RFP for the Campbell River Landfill Closure is for Phase II of the project, which was delayed in 2016 when it was determined there was additional capacity within the facility. Finally, the Comox Valley Landfill Expansion Cell 2 is part of an expansion that began in 2020.
