VIREB September Market Update in Around Town

According to the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board’s (VIREB) September Statistics, 345 single-family (SF) homes sold on the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) System compared to 413 the previous month and 347 in September 2018.  

The Vancouver Island Real Estate Board has released its September Market Update showing an increase in inventory and prices throughout Vancouver Island.

Year-over-year sales of apartments and townhouses rose by 15 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively.

  • Comox Valley: $582,029, +4% last Sept
  • Campbell River:  $541,837, -19% last Sept
  • Port Alberni: $406,857, -9% last Sept
  • Parksville/Qualicum: $618,565, 33% last Sept

Inventory of single-family homes in September rose by 14 per cent (1,283 to 1,466), apartment listings increased by 43 per cent (293 to 419), and townhouse inventory dropped by 18 per cent (171 to 140).  Regionally, the September benchmark price of a single-family home in the Comox Valley increased by five per cent, and the Campbell River area increased by 11 per cent.
