Your Weekly Construction Briefing

Campbell River City Staff provided Council with an update summarizing the preliminary results of public and stakeholder consultation for proposed amendments to OCP Development Permit Areas to include Great Blue Heron nest trees with Bald Eagle nest trees and improve Hazard Conditions (Steep Slopes).

The City of Campbell River is exploring changes to Development Permit Areas in the Official Community Plan. This map shows the location of Steep Slopes in red.

Two virtual meetings were held in November 2021, along with an online survey to gather feedback about proposed amendments. The proposed amendments were endorsed by the Community Planning Advisory Committee and the Environmental Advisory Committee in the Fall of 2020. Going forward, the public consultation and the proposed amendments have been separated into two distinct processes.

These pages provide more information regarding the possible impact on development if the changes proceed.

Based on community feedback received during 2021 activities, additional engagement activities are planned for March. Council will consider the proposed amendments further at a future Committee of the Whole meeting.
