Contract for Structural Seismic Upgrades at Campbell River’s Ecole Phoenix Middle School Awarded to Muchalat Construction

School District 72 in Campbell River has issued the contract for completing structural seismic upgrades at Ecole Phoenix Middle School to Muchalat Construction. Six firms were short listed and submitted bids. The construction budget is approximately $6.2 million. The school district expects to continue school operations throughout the project, with phasing being necessary. Work is expected to begin fairly soon.

School District 72 Seeking Expressions of Interest for Procurement of 1960 Vintage Elementary School and Six-Acre Property in Campbell River

School District 72 is also seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the procurement of a 1,330 square-metre 1960 vintage elementary school and six-acre property as an educational, recreational, or social facility, or, dependent on rezoning requirements, as a residential development. This site was formerly Evergreen Elementary School at 1681 Evergreen Road in Campbell River. A site visit will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 7, 2013; RSVP to 250.830.2302. $2.8 Million Building Permit Issued for Construction at Crown Isle Shopping Centre

An invitational tender was issued to contracting firms to bid on site preparation for the foundations of three buildings, as well as on construction of an additional building, at Crown Isle Shopping Centre in Courtenay. The tender closed on September 26, 2013. A building permit was issued this week in the amount of $2.8 million. The selection process is still underway for the general contractor, and a decision is expected soon. Once the contract has been awarded, construction is expected to begin within a few weeks.
