Around Town: The John Hart Dam Project Update

October 24, 2014

Over 70 full time people are working at full time jobs at the John Hart Dam and the full time jobs will be increasing steadily until the peak of construction in 2015, when 350 people are expected to be working on the project. Power BC and its subcontractors are hiring as many local people as they can. Over 50 local companies have been hired to date to work on this project.

An off-site parking and office location is now operational at the Old Campbellton School Yard as there is limited parking at the John Hart site. This is the place where deliveries and storage can take place. The off-site hub will reduce traffic on Highway 28 as most of the worker traffic is eliminated given the Campbellton parking and bussing to the site. A development permit has now been granted by the City of Campbell River for the renovation of the existing buildings and addition of temporary structures.
