Campbell River Improved Building Permit Process in Around Town

Your Weekly Construction Briefing

A new bylaw was recently adopted by Council, making it easier and quicker to apply for a building permit. The updates promote consistency and changes that align the bylaw requirements with the Building Act.

The City of Campbell River has passed an updated Building Permit bylaw that better aligns with the requirements of the Building Act.

Some of the differences in the new bylaw include: deletion of fire suppression requirements exceeding those required by the BC Building Code; relaxation to the survey requirements; incorporating Part 3 code provisions for emergency vehicle access for smaller multi-building sites; and wording added to support the BC Building Code’s mandate to comply with the BC Energy Step code.

In the weeks ahead, expect to see a revised and simplified building permit application form, bulletins and information documents addressing topics like Digital Permit Application Process, permit submission requirements, etc.
