The Board has secured long term funding for the REC-REATE project in the amount of $64,670,000 for the REC-CREATE project. In order to reduce delays in construction and increased costs, the Board has approved retaining HCMA Architecture + Design for Contract Administration and Heatherbrae Builders Ltd for Construction Management Services. HCMA Architecture + Design’s fee for Contract Administration Services is $1,023,889 – including the costs for all sub-contractors hired under HCMA as the Prime Contractor. Heatherbrae’s fee for Construction Management and General Requirements (Division 01 Services) is 2.25% of construction budget (yet to be determined) and $3,057,640 for General Requirements. Heatherbrae issued a pre-qualifications request for Electrical, Mechanical, Concrete Formwork, Civil / Site Works, Structural Steel, and Tiling for the project in November 2023. That request has closed and an invitation to tender will be issues soon to successful prequalified subcontractors. If the budget is approved based on final quotes, construction could commence this summer with a 2 year timeline.
