Courtenay: Upcoming Trade tenders for 5-storey apartment building.
Momentum Design Build expects to release tenders later this week for Trades for the Landing in Courtenay. Momentum will be seeking contractors for: Civil, Landscaping, Concrete Formwork, Reinforcing, Structural & Misc Steel, Rough Carpentry, Finish Carpentry, Insulation, Siding, Roofing, Gypsum Board & Steel Stud, Paint & Coatings, Mechanical, Electrical, Aluminum, Storefront, and Windows. The project is a 104-unit, 5-storey multi-residential rental apartment building adjacent to the Courtenay River. A zoning amendment bylaw was approved in December 2024. The building permit has been submitted and is under review. Construction is expected to begin in July, with completion in December 2026.
Comox: Closing date extended for $253.4 Million Aircraft Maintenance Hangar project.
Defence Construction Canada has extended the closing date for this opportunity to May 15. Defence Construction Canada is seeking a design-build teams for a new Aircraft Maintenance Hangar. The Rough Order Magnitude Construction Cost Estimate for the project is $253.4 Million. The Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft Program includes purchasing long-range patrol aircraft to replace the existing fleet of CP-140 Aurora aircraft and new infrastructure and renovations to existing infrastructure to support the new aircraft. The new aircraft are to be based at Canadian Forces Base 14 Wing Greenwood, NS, and CFB 19 Wing Comox, BC. The 3-bay maintenance hangar will tentatively include three first-line maintenance bays, workshops, storage, and administrative office space, and Design and Construct a new Tactical Operations Centre. Campbell River: Rezoning approved for twenty duplex lots.
The rezoning application to permit a 20 lot duplex development at 2500 Penfield Road has received final approval. Development at Penfield (south of Goodwin Road) began in 2018, with a plan to create up to 35 residential lots. Phases 1 and 2 were completed between 2019 and 2022 with 18 single family homes. The property at 2500 Penfield Road comprises the third and final phase of the project, with roadworks currently underway.
