Comox Valley: 54 lot subdivision on Mount Washington

Mount Washington Alpine Resort is working on a 54 lot subdivision near the top of Strathcona Parkway. The project will be made up of seven stratas on single family lots ranging in size from .25 to 1.08 acres. The subdivision will offer the only ski-trail-connected housing on the Island and views of Mt Washington Resort, Strathcona Provincial Park, or the Salish Sea depending on orientation. Construction on the project is expected to begin in the fall of 2022, once the subdivision is approved. Homes will be built to environmentally friendly and energy-efficient standards. The first phase will include the release of approximately 7 to 10 lots. Pricing is expected to be released once the disclosure is in place.

Comox: Tenders to be released soon for the Marine Services Building

The Town of Comox is expected to release sub-trade tenders for the partial demolition and rebuild of the Marine Services Building in mid-August. Kinetic was picked as the Construction Manager in spring 2021. Any trades wishing to participate in the tenders can email Nick at Kinetic to be invited. Once costs have been determined, Council will decide if the project is within budget to proceed. The Town has received some funding for the project including $1 million last year from a BC grant and $380,000 recently from a Federal fund. The plan for the new building is proposed to include the demolition of an existing concrete block building while retaining its current electrical room, the construction of an approx. 1,500 square foot building, including interior commercial space and covered outdoor vendor areas with fenced storage for outdoor equipment. The project was initially proposed to proceed in September 2021. Council is hoping the funding, along with previous funds, will cover the cost of the entire project.
