Courtenay: Development Permit under review for a 41-unit condo building.

A development permit for this 41-unit multi residential development has been submitted. Council approved the Housing Agreement and Zoning Amendment at the end of May. As proposed, these units will be built for the condominium market and the 41-units will consist of 3 studios, 28 one-bedroom, and 10 two-bedroom units. The development would provide secure underground and enclosed parking with short term enclosed parking for visitor use. All parking stalls will have EV plug in capabilities. All units will have a designated bike stall in a secured bike room located in the parkade. This is the third and final phase of the Newport Village.

Campbell River: Strata Subdivision under review for 85 acres.

City staff are reviewing a Strata-Bare Land application for an estimated 188 lots build in 22 phases 11 km north of Campbell River. Phase one would include 26 lots. A Zoning Bylaw Amendment for this 85 acre master planned oceanfront community was approved in 2021 and a Parkland Agreement is providing approximately 2.26 hectares of linear parkland. The original proposal also includes the potential for a hotel or other commercial uses and private water, sewer and road maintenance services.

Campbell River: Rezoning moving forward for 100 units of mixed single and multi family.

Council approved first and second reading for a Zoning Amendment Bylaw for a future low-to-medium density subdivision at 120, 155 and 240 Elk River Road South. The development is proposed to include 41 single family lots with the option of secondary suites, 38 multiple-family units based on 25 dwelling units per hectare and 8 two-family dwellings or duplexes. Council requested that staff consider active transportation and a Public Hearing will be scheduled.
