Powell River:  Approvals are moving forward for a 141 purpose-built rental project.

Powell River has approved rezoning for a proposed 141 purpose- built rental project in two six-storey buildings. The units are a combination of micro, studio, one and two bedrooms, and will include 10 affordable housing units. Units will range in size from 312 sq ft for the micro units to 1190 sq ft for the two bedroom units and there will be 172 combined underground and surface parking stalls. The units are expected to cater to retirees downsizing as well as working professionals and college students. A development permit application has been submitted, and construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2022.

Courtenay:  Building permit issued for single storey commercial building on Cliffe Avenue.

A building permit has been issued for a single storey, 568 sq.m. commercial building on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay. The building is expected to include a fast food restaurant with drive-thru, and spaces other small scale businesses. The current proposal screens the drive-thru queue from the public street with hedges, and includes outdoor seating in the setback area between the building and the street. A combination of fixed steel canopies and fabric awnings are intended to provide year‐round protection over the storefronts.

Campbell River:  New multi residential 20 unit townhome project proposed for Nunns Road.

Campbell River has received a zoning bylaw amendment application for a new project with approximately 20 townhome units at the end of Nunns Road. This application updates an application submitted in 2018 to subdivide the property into 5 single family lots. The new application will be circulated for comment by staff after payment for submitting the application is received.
