Shortly after acquiring the remainder of the properties owned by the Powell River Waterfront Development Corporation in 2019, Council expressed a strong interest in building a strategy for all City owned properties. A new Land Management Strategy report is now complete.

Powell River:  Several surplus city owned sites expected to be sold for development between 2023 and 2026.

The City of Powell River has identified 25 surplus city-owned sites for potential sale. The list of properties includes several future development opportunities ranging in size from 0.3 to 118 acres. 

Courtenay: 55 to 60 lots for The RISE subdivisiong, including a new access from Ryan Road. 

Applications have been submitted for another 55 to 60 lots in The RISE subdivision in Courtenay. When this part of the subdivision is added, a new entrance/exit to Ryan Road will be built.

Port Alberni: The city is sellling two properties for future development. 

The City of Port Alberni is selling two properties for development including a 2.72 acre treed site designated as ‘future residential’.
