Courtenay:  A new two building, 100 unit condominium project proposed.

A two building, 100 unit condominium project has been proposed for a vacant lot near the 5th Street bridge in Courtenay. The developer is proposing a combination of studio, one, two and three bedroom units, within six storey buildings.

Cumberland:  Funding received for a child care centre for 88 children on School District land.

Cumberland and School District #71 are working on a new development for 85 child care spaces in the community. Site development and construction is proposed to start in 2022. The village and the school district were awarded almost $3 million grant to provide an additional 85 spaces in the community.

Ucluelet: Approval expected for a motel development with 17 units and 1 staff housing within 12 buildings..

A new development in Ucluelet proposes to include 12 buildings for 17 units with one staff housing. District staff is recommending that Council approve the project at this week’s council meeting. The proposed motel development consists of 8 – two storey, single unit cabins; 2 – two storey, four-unit motel buildings; 1 – two storey mixed use building with one tourist accommodation unit and more.
