BC: BC Housing has released a request for proposal for the 2025 Community Housing Fund.

BC Housing has released a request for proposal for 2025 Community Housing Fund with a submission deadline of July 31, 2025. The purpose of this RFP is to invite experienced non-profit, co-operative and municipal housing providers, and First Nations interested in developing and operating net new low- and moderate-income rental housing units within the province to submit proposals that qualify under the Building BC: Community Housing Fund program (CHF Program). The 2025 CHF intake is a rolling proposal call until CHF funding is depleted. This RFP is the first intake proposal call and sequential proposal calls (with tender number suffix B, C and D, etc.) will be released on a timely basis following intake closure of this RFP. Submissions should only be submitted to this first intake proposal call if they meet all requirements, including the ability to commence construction within a 24-month period upon issuance of award. Although BC Housing has identified three future intakes, these intakes are tentative only dependent upon remaining available program funding. For more details, visit BC Bid.

Courtenay: Request for proposal for path construction within the new McPhee Meadows Park.

The City has issued a tender for Phase 1A of McPhee Meadows with construction of a gravel pathway (559 3rd Street). Work will generally include: Resurfacing and geotechnical improvements for approximately 140m of existing pathway; Installing approximately 395m of gravel pathway; Installing curb, sidewalk, and asphalt; Installing catch basins, lawn basins, and drainage culverts; Invasive species removal (Optional); and Riparian planting (Optional). This opportunity closes on June 20.

Campbell River:  Major development permit with variance approved for a 5,100 sq.ft. childcare centre.

The City has approved a major development permit with variance to construct the childcare centre, subject to registration of a consolidated lot survey plan and a landscaping security deposit of $171,291. M’akola Development Services is the project manager, on behalf of the Metis Provincial Council of BC. In July 2023, the Métis Nation BC issued a tender for Construction Management Services for a mixed-use apartment building and a childcare building over 4 lots. The single storey childcare building was proposed as approx. 5,100 sq.ft. with construction first due to funding timelines. The second building is proposed to be a mixed-use, six-storey, 45-unit apartment building with a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units. The property consists of 4 legal properties that will be consolidated into 2 lots prior to construction. Three of the lots are vacant, and one contains a single-family home (constructed in the 1970s) that will require demolition. In early 2024, the total construction budget for the project was estimated to be approximately: $29 million ($24.4M for the mixed-use and $4.6M for the childcare building).
