Two Vancouver-based development companies are proceeding with their 15-year masterplan for developing the Royal Beach area of Colwood, and signed a landmark development deal with the City of Colwood in 2021. This property is the last significant piece of waterfront land in the City of Colwood.

Phase One of Royal Beach’s Colwood Master Plan could be complete in 2024. This artist’s rendition shows a view of the ocean across ponds that are part of the development.

The 135-acre waterfront site is southwest of Victoria and will be home to approximately 2,850 homes/units, retail space, and commercial space, according to developers Seacliff Properties and Reliance Properties. Plans include restaurants, shops, amenities and a variety of recreational opportunities.

The $1.2-billion masterplan also includes 47 acres of green space, some of which will be public parks with ocean views. A major component of the property will be a comprehensive and interconnected trail network.  Work is set to begin this spring with the first Phase complete by 2024.
