Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society’s (MARS) Crowdfunding for New Hospital on Northern Vancouver Island

May 15, 2015

In 2014 there were more than 700 patients admitted to Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society’s (MARS) facility, with most of them treated in the existing clinic: a converted garage, with the space shared with volunteers, the part time office staff, and the washing machine. The organization needs a new hospital building where staff and volunteers can work on the patients in a clean, quiet and efficient environment.

This gosling is just one of the many patients already admitted to the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society in 2015.

MARS has been in operation for 20 years, which started a small wildlife rescue facility on Maj and Keith Birch’s three acres of land in the Comox Valley, BC. MARS has now outgrown its old facilities. Due to a generous bequest from the estate of local resident Michele Woodrow, MARS has 11 acres to build a new, modern wildlife center. MARS is in the process of trying to raise the money for the infrastructure and a hospital.

Building Links is proud to support MARS. Please join with us to help to build a facility that will give them the tools to send more patients home. Together we can do this!
