Following an initial investment of $4.2 million in the spring of 2021, the Province is investing an additional $2 million to accelerate the use of mass timber. Through the Mass Timber Demonstration Program, a BC for-profit developer can apply for up to $500,000 (max.10%) of a project’s eligible incremental costs.

The Province of British Columbia is again investing in its Mass Timber Demonstration Program, and accepting applications until October.

Eligible buildings include Residential (7+ stories), Mixed- use (3+ stories), Institutional (2+ stories), and Industrial (1+ storey), where the main structural building system is mass timber or mass timber-hybrid (concrete, steel, or wood frame).

Eligible applicants include:

  • For-profit building sector organizations registered in British Columbia (i.e. developers, building owners);
  • Not-for-profit organizations incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation or society formed under an Act of Canada or the Province of B.C. and in good standing under the relevant Act;
  • British Columbia local governments (i.e., municipalities and regional districts); and
  • First Nations governments and organizations.

Expressions of Interests will be accepted until October 8, 2021. Visit masstimberbc.ca for more information.
