Comox Strathcona Waste Management Board approves borrowing for landfill

Comox Strathcona Waste Management Board has approved the borrowing of up to $45.3 million to pay for the closure of existing landfills in Campbell River and Cumberland and the creation of a new one alongside the present Cumberland site.

Island Timberlands submits rezoning application for Brean Road

Island Timberlands has submitted a rezoning application to the Comox Valley Regional District to permit approximately nine residential parcles at Brean Road, also known has Hindoon Creek. The proposed lots range in size betwen 2.3 and 4 hectares.

BC Hydro announces new projects for Campbell River region

BC Hydro has announced two new major projects for the Campbell River region. Starting in 2018/19, BC Hydro will initiate seismic upgrades to the John Hart and Strathcona dams. This work will follow completion of the John Hart Generating Station replacement project. The seismic upgrades are major undertakings, and are expected to cost in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
