The proposed new regional office building is approximately 21,850 sq. ft., and is a two-storey, slab on grade structural steel building consisting of primarily office space as well as an area built to post-disaster standards to house a regional emergency operations centre, boardroom, archives and server room.

A ‘notice of upcoming tender’ is expected to be issued later this month for the new Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) regional office building in Courtenay. Work on the water treatment plant in Union Bay is expected to begin this fall in preparing for Phase 1 of the Union Bay Estates development. The Master Development Agreement for this 850-acre project includes 2,949 new residential units and mixed-use commercial spaces, along with two new hotels, a marina, and amenities such as a pharmacy, medical clinic, coffee shop and more.

Construction of the new $30 million Consolidated Wastewater Treatment Plant in Powell River is expected in to start this year. Design is expected to be complete by the end of this month to allow the city to apply for the provincial and federal funding needed to build the plant.
