The City of Campbell River is requesting proposals to secure the services of a qualified firm to develop an Urban Forest Management Plan that establishes guidelines and actions to preserve and enhance its urban forest. Greenways Land Trust has taken the lead on this project, working with City staff from the Sustainability and Parks departments to ensure the plan is tailored to suit the community’s needs. The tender closes on June 24; see our tender section for more information.

Four homes have been sold and seven have been reserved in the 18-unit patio home development called The Grove at Crown Isle in Courtenay. Framing is underway on Units 1 to 4 and the foundation is being poured for units 5 and 6. This is Phase I of the project which will be completed in October, 2014.

Construction on this 132-unit, state-of-the-art Berwick By The Sea retirement facility is scheduled to be completed in the fall, and an announcement is expected to be made in the next few months regarding the opening date, which is expected to be sometime in October. Berwick By the Sea has reported that they have reservations for 80 of the 132 rooms. Once the facility opens they will have at least two thirds of the rooms spoken for.
