In this week’s issue we have the construction statistics for the second quarter of 2013. Construction values have declined during the first six months of 2013 compared to the same time period in 2012 in Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland and in the CVRD. Single family home construction is also down significantly in all of these areas. The exception, is Campbell River, where we can see that their construction values have increased by over 100% from January 1 to June 30, 2013 compared to the same time period in 2012. Their construction values total $55.7 million, which is $29 million more last year.

The construction values for Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland and in the CVRD totals $28.5 million; this is an interesting statistic, which shows that these four municipalities have $17 million less in construction values than the City of Campbell River.
