Editor’s Note:
A building permit has been issued in the amount of $2.1 million for Extra Foods store at Comox Centre Mall for a major reconfiguration and upgrade to the inside of the store. The store will undergo a significant refurbishment leading to its rebranding as a ‘Your Independent Grocer’ outlet. The store will remain open during the renovation.

A building permit has been issued in Campbell River for the multi-residential building located at 808 South Island Highway in the amount of $3.6 millions to Crowne Pacific Development. Construction is underway and the foundation is being poured now. Crowne Pacific is seeking bids for Siding Contractors, see our tender section for more information.

Mia Heitland, our communications coordinator and a key member of our staff is leaving Building Links. Mia joined Building Links and 1stView just over three years ago and she has been a valuable asset to our team. We are going to miss her. Mia and her husband are relocating to Calgary and we wish them all the very best!

Draft OCP Official Community Plan Complete
The draft Cumberland Official Community Plan is now available and will be presented at a Community Dialogue event on Thursday, July 18 at the Cultural Centre from 5-9 p.m. The OCP is posted on the village website at www.cumberland.ca A new online survey about the draft OCP is available on their website. Friday, July 26 is the final date for comments to be forwarded to Stantec Consulting for this phase of the OCP process. Following another phase of public engagement in August, the draft OCP bylaw is scheduled to be before Council on September 9.

CVRD Holds Free Solar Power Open Houses
As part of the Comox Valley sustainability strategy implementation in the electoral areas, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is providing an opportunity for the public to see them at work in two of the locations. Open houses will be held at the Oyster River fire hall on Sunday July 21 and the Little River water services building on Sunday August 18. Terratek Energy Solutions, the supplier of the solar photovoltaic systems will be on site for brief tours and to answer questions. Both open houses will run from noon to 1:30. The Oyster River fire hall is at 2241 Catherwood Road, Black Creek, and the Comox Valley water services building is at 2490 Anderton Road, in Little River.
