BC Hydro Dam Upgrades – Courtenay and Campbell River in Around Town

BC Hydro is planning Flow Control Improvements to several locations within the Comox-Puntledge Facility and expects to issue a request for proposal in the Fall of 2022 with construction between 2023 and 2024.

BC Hydro is planning upgrades to the John Hart Dam and other hydro dams in Campbell River and Courtenay.

The project includes mechanical, structural, electrical, telecom, protection and control equipment and systems improvements at the Comox Dam, Puntledge Dam, Puntledge Penstock, and Puntledge Powerhouse.

BC Hydro is currently gathering information from potential contractors and asking experience related questions. See previously published tenders in this week’s issue for access to documents.

Upgrades are also being planned for the John Hart Dam, Ladore Spillway and Strathcona Dam. Procurement is expected to begin this year with construction in 2023 to 2029.
