Around Town: VIREB August Market Update

According to the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board’s (VIREB) August Statistics, sales of single-family homes in the VIREB region (Duncan to Port Hardy) increased by seven per cent from July 2018 and decreased by 14 per cent from August 2017. 

According to the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board’s sales of single-family homes in the VIREB region increased by seven per cent from July 2018.

While prices continued their year to date increase in all areas, the Comox Valley and Parksville/Qualicum areas were the only regions not experiencing a decline in units sold.

August 2018 Multiple Listing Service® Sales Summary

  • Comox Valley: $557,935, +1% last month, +13% last year. YTD units sold +1%.
  • Campbell River: $464,320, -1% last month, +12% last year. YTD units sold -30%.
  • Port Alberni: $364,846, +5% last month, +18% last year. YTD units sold -38%.
  • Parksville/Qualicum: $604,254, -1% last month, +3% last year. YTD units sold +6%.

The Year to Date (YTD) benchmark price for single-family homes in Campbell River and the Comox Valley increased by 12 to 13 per cent, the price of townhomes in both areas increased by 1 per cent and the price for apartments increased by 25 per cent.
