Around Town: Public meetings and online survey for City of Courtenay Tree Protection Bylaw

June 16, 2016

City of Courtenay has initiated the public consultation stage of changes proposed to the City’s Tree Protection and Management Bylaw. There is an on-line public survey that is very easy to use and should take no more than 10 minutes.

The City of Courtenay is in the process of updating the Tree Management and Protection Bylaw. This is a Municipality’s strongest legislative tool for protecting the Urban Forest on private land.

The survey and background information on the proposed bylaw changes are available at www.courtenay.ca/trees. There are also hard copies of the survey available at City Hall. The survey deadline is June 30 and there is even an opportunity to win a prize if you leave your contact information in the survey!

There are also two public meetings in the coming week:

  • Wednesday, June 15 from 5-7:30 pm in the Evergreen Lounge at the Florence Filberg Centre. There will be a short presentation at 6 pm, after which there will be opportunity for a question and answer period.
  • Tuesday, June 21 from 12–2 pm at the Courtenay Library. Staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Both meetings will have display boards and hard copies of the survey available.
