Around Town: Province approves boundary extension request in Comox

October 5, 2016

The Lieutenant Governor in Council has approved the Town of Comox’s boundary extension request for three parcels of land in the Hector-Aspen Roads area. Owners from two of the parcels approached Council in late 2013, requesting to have their lands incorporated into the Town’s municipal boundary.

A boundary extension has been approved in the Hector-Aspen Road area of Comox, extending the town's boundaries.

The parcels are ideally located close to commercial centres and municipal services, and are identified in the Town’s Official Community Plan as an area suited for accommodating new long-term growth opportunities for single- and multi-family housing projects.

Incorporating the parcels within the Town’s municipal boundary is also consistent with the Regional Growth Strategy’s long-term growth management principles for areas within settlement expansion areas. “Due to its proximity to Brooklyn Creek, this is an important area for applying best practices with respect to storm water management,” states Mayor Ives. “We look forward to applying some of the innovative and comprehensive methods that we have learned in the Pritchard-Cambridge Roads area in order to ensure that the critical habitat of Brooklyn Creek is maintained.”

Planning for servicing in the area will begin in the near future. For more information, please contact Town Hall at 250.339.2202 or email town@comox.ca.
