Around Town: New Affordable Housing Funding
BC Housing has announced funding opportunities through a Community Housing Fund. The new program is expected to create over 14,000 new residential units across BC over the next 10 years.
Projects can be combined with an existing mixed-use site or existing housing if the new project is a separate and independently operating rental housing development. The request for proposals from non-profits, housing co-ops, and local government, is now live and will close in September.
Project proposals must reflect the following mix of rents and incomes within a single building:
- 30% Affordable housing
- 50% Rent geared to income
- 20% Deep subsidy
