Around Town: Habitat for Humanity Builds in both Campbell River and Courtenay

March 22, 2018

Since 2004, Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North has helped 23 families achieve their dream of affordable homeownership.

Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North is seeking volunteers for builds in Campbell River and Courtenay this spring.

Plans are underway to build 19 more homes over the next 3 years. Construction will begin this spring at both 477 Hilchey Road in Campbell River and 1330 Lake Trail Road in Courtenay. Both developments are municipally approved and building permits are expected soon.

Volunteers are key to successful builds and Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers for a variety of jobs, including construction leads and mentors, site hosts and food services. The homes are built almost entirely by volunteers, both skilled and unskilled. All the equipment and safety gear needed for volunteers is provided with the exception of steel toe boots, and no previous experience is necessary.
