Around Town: Commercial Energy-Efficiency Rebates
FortisBC is offering a Commercial Custom Design Program to assist with a customized approach to energy efficiency for existing buildings. The program provides funding for natural gas energy-efficiency projects tailored to a specific building or facility.
To qualify, a client must be a FortisBC commercial rate class natural gas customer with medium to large commercial, institutional, multi-unit residential or light industrial buildings or facilities, the project must have the potential to save a minimum 1,200 gigajoules of natural gas annually, and must work with a FortisBC approved consultant.
The program provides several types of funding to help identify and then implement cost-effective natural gas energy conservation measures in a building. Energy study funding is offered to help with a detailed engineering analysis of the facility to identify opportunities for natural gas savings, Capital incentive funding is offered for the implementation of natural gas energy conservation measures identified in the energy study, and Implementation bonus funding is offered to participants who successfully implement the approved energy conservation measures. Funding is subject to review and approval and could exceed $50,000.
