2013 First Quarter Construction Summary

April 17, 2013

Campbell RiverCampbell River continues to experience significant growth in their building starts, even in this challenging construction climate. The lower residential lot prices, the quick turn around time of development and building permit applications by the City of Campbell River and the large ongoing projects all contribute to this growth. We can expect to see higher construction numbers come from Campbell River for the remainder of the year, as they will see the start of numerous new projects including the John Hart Dam, a new hotel, a Berwick Seniors Centre, the Middlepoint Barge Facility and more residential housing. Campbell River is a bright spot for growth on Vancouver Island.

All of the other communities, including Comox, Courtenay and the Comox Valley Regional District have experienced declines. Single family home construction has decreased in all regions.
