Opening and Unlocking Your Protected Building Links PDF
In order to unlock your protected copy of Building Links, you need Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat, version 6.0.1 or newer. If you are using an older version, a different PDF viewer, or are unsure about what you have, please install the free Adobe Reader. It can be installed alongside whatever software you might have.

Once you have Adobe Reader installed, be sure to open your Building Links PDF using it. You may need to save the PDF to your computer first, such as to your Documents folder. Once you have saved it, locate it on your computer, right-click on it, and choose “Open With… Adobe Reader”. The document should open up in Adobe Reader and you should be able to unlock it.
Browsers today have the ability to display PDFs right inside their windows. However, some browsers such as Safari and Google Chrome may not be compatible with the Building Links PDFs. If you suspect your browser may not be unlocking the document, please do the following steps:
- Follow the link and display the Building Links PDF file in your browser.
- Before attempting to unlock the document, save the PDF to your computer, such as to the Desktop or your Documents folder. How you save a PDF from your browser varies depending on the browser. Generally, you want to look for a “Save As…” or “Save Page as…” menu option.
- Locate the PDF file on your computer where you saved it.
- Either double-click the PDF or right-click on it and choose “Open with…” and choose Adobe Reader or FoxIt Reader (whatever your preferred PDF reader is).
Once the PDF is open in Adobe Reader, you should be able to unlock it without any difficulties. Please ensure you keep your Adobe Reader updated to the newest available version (as of December 15th, this is Adobe Reader “X” (version 10)).
