Comfort Inn and Suites to Open in Campbell River in January of 2015
The new hotel in Campbell River will be called Comfort Inn and Suites, Campbell River and will be part of the Choice Hotels International Group. The four-storey, 58 room west-coast style hotel is located at 1357 Shoppers Row and almost all rooms will feature an ocean view. The hotel plans to open in January of 2015.
Somass Hotel Project Tender Expected in 2014
The historical Somass Hotel before demolition began this summer.
Demolition of the historic Somass Hotel at the base of Argyle Street is now three-quarters complete and it is expected to be completed by the end of October. Engineering drawings for a new cultural centre and administrative building on the site, including 35 residential units in a 4-storey building, are being finalized. Once complete, the project will go to tender, likely in December.
Town of Comox Planning for Re-Development of Marina Park
The Town of Comox has engaged Cohlmeyer Architecture and the Algis Corporation to help plan for the re-development of Marina Park. Improving the park and waterfront area, as well as improving the connections between the park and Comox Avenue. Once plans are finalized, the Town of Comox will be applying for grants from the Island Coastal Economic Trust and Western Economic Diversification Canada to partially fund the re-development.
