A building permit with a value of $8.3 million has been issued for the 68-unit multi-family project on South Dogwood in Campbell River.

Campbell River’s newest five-storey, 68-unit multi-family project on South Dogwood Street has been issued an $8.3 million building permit. The development is designed to include 16 one bedroom units and 52 two bedroom suites ranging in size from 642 sq.ft. to 1073 sq.ft.

Pre-sales are underway for the condominiums at Newport Village, 3070 Kilpatrick Avenue in Courtenay. The project includes a 70 unit residential building, a mixed-use building with 11 commercial and 52 unit residential units, and a third building with one commercial unit. The units are listed from $199,900 for 484 square feet one bedroom units, to $309,900 for 784 square feet, two bedroom suites.

Powell River considering smaller lot sizes to encourage affordable housing projects.

Powell River city staff are recommending that council give first and second reading to two draft bylaws to permit the creation of smaller lot sizes in targeted areas of the community. It is expected that smaller residential lots will produce a diverse and more flexible housing product that is likely to be more affordable.
