New seniors complex, called Coastal Winds moving ahead in Powell River

Powell River city council approved a development permit for a senior’s housing project known as Coastal Winds in April. Project partners Inclusion Powell River and Golden Life Management expect to begin construction on 75-unit seniors housing project next to Powell River General Hospital in September. The project is being built on a 3.5-acre parcel located on Joyce Avenue between Evangel Church and the pole line. The rezoning application requested a change from R-1 to Comprehensive Development Zone, allowing for a mixed-use facility which will include businesses on the main level and living units on the upper levels.
