WoodFibre LNG Hotel Ship and Hiring in Around Town

Crews for the WoodFibre LNG construction project near Squamish will have the opportunity to live in a converted 154-metre ferry. The 652 cabin floating hotel arrived at the Port of Nanaimo last week as a staging ground before its departure to the project site.

Real Estate Market Update in Around Town

Last month, 152 single-family homes sold in the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) area, down six per cent from January 2023. Sales of condos came in at 47 units, increasing by 12 per cent from 2023. In the row/townhouse category, 40 units sold, up by 14 per cent from 2023.

2023 Building Permit Statistics – Comox Valley and Campbell River in Around Town

Compared to 2022, total building permit values in 2023 increased by 17% per cent from $334 to $391 million, while the number of permits issued decreased by 5 per cent from 852 in 2022 to 803 in 2023.
