Around Town: VICA Hosts Youth Constructing a Future Program

In November, VICA launched its Youth Constructing a Future program to prepare young adults (18+) for a career in the construction industry. They are recruiting for the next intake on February 20! Participants must be a resident of BC, legally entitled to work in Canada, unemployed, not EI eligible, and not in school.

“Youth Constructing a Future” Program Deliverables:

  • Develop job entry skills
  • Build your resume and interview skills
  • Go to worksites to meet potential employers and learn the do’s and don’ts of construction site culture
  • Learn about apprenticeship options

Gain site experience, get to know different tools, and walk awaywith 10 certificates:

  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)
  • OFA First Aid – Certificate
  • WHMIS – Certificate
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Confined Spaces Safety
  • Personal Protective Equipment Training
  • Ladder Safety
  • Forklift Training
  • Standardized Traffic Control Training (Flagging)
  • Workplace Violence & Harassment
